Research topics:

The work in the laboratory is aimed at description and understanding of:

  • Mechanisms of maintenance of the ends of linear DNA molecules (telomeres) including the modes of their stabilization, replication, dynamics
  • Evolutionary trajectories leading to contemporary linear genophores
  • Mechanisms of replication, stabilization and inheritance of mitochondrial genomes
  • Structure and dynamics of mitochondrial chromosomes/nucleoids

  • Molecular taxonomy based on comparative genomics of mitochondrial genomes
  • Biogenesis of the organelles of eukaryotic cells, especially mechanisms of morphogenesis and inheritance of mitochondria and their relationships to ion homeostasis
  • Regulation of dimorphic transition between yeast and hyphae forms of pathogenic fungi
